 £45,000 - £50,000 +  Hybrid working - Bristol, Nottingham or Swansea

This is an exciting opportunity for a Head of Commercial Category Management within a Finance, Commercial and Assurance Directorate. This role will assume a leadership role in the embedding of the DVSA Commercial Strategy and the continued development and implementation of a Category Management approach.

This role can be based from Bristol, Nottingham, or Swansea, where your presence at this location will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. A hybrid working model approach that allows you to work between home and office locations, giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work.
Occasional travel and overnight stays (approximately 3-4 times a year) within the UK may be required to meet with staff and stakeholders

Responsibilities include:​

• Leading a Commercial Category Management Team responsible for c £50m of spend. Contributing to the delivery of annual Commercial and Efficiency savings targets

• Demonstrating leadership, executing management responsibilities effectively, working with, leading and acting as a role model for team members and colleagues, ensuring capability to achieve successful commercial outcomes delivery throughout the commercial cycle.

• Providing current and relevant advice on the latest developments in public sector procurement.

• Establishing a strong commercial direction and a persuasive future vision based on the new DVSA Commercial Strategy.

• Assisting with the commercial elements of migration to a new shared services platform and drive future improvements..

• Leading in the development of the Commercial Team in line with CO Procurement Skills and Competencies Framework through a Commercial Skills and Capability Review and Training Plan.

• Utilising own skills to develop and mentor others working in the DVSA Commercial Team and wider DVSA, ensuring a positive, professional influence.

• Deputising for the Head of Procurement and Contract Management as appropriate.

The person we hope to find:​

A Commercial Professional who sees the big picture, you are a good communicator with the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external. You will be a natural leader and change maker.
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS), or equivalent, or preparedness to work towards achieving this qualification.
Previous experience in a category management / leadership role preferred,
